Daily target
Height is what makes BMI possible on the Trend screen.
The rate is what the Trend screen uses to work out a new target if your losses stall. One pound a week is a 500 kcal daily gap.
Work out a target for me
If you don't know where to start, this estimates your burn rate from your body and how active you are. It is a formula, not a measurement — it gets you through the first fortnight, and then the Trend screen replaces it with your real number.
Only fill that in if you've actually had it measured. If you do, it switches to a formula based on lean mass, which needs neither your age nor the choice above.
USDA lookups — worth setting up
Add a key and scanning gets noticeably better. USDA FoodData Central stores the nutrition panel exactly as printed on the packet, so a scan needs no guessing at all. It is asked alongside Open Food Facts on every scan and its answer wins whenever it has one.
The key is free, takes about thirty seconds, and stays on this phone - it is only ever sent to USDA, and is never committed to the repository. Without one the app still works: Open Food Facts covers more products, it just often lacks the serving size.
Free keys come from fdc.nal.usda.gov.
Check my foods
Goes through everything in your library looking for mistakes: calories that do not match the macros, portions that are the wrong size, a barcode on two foods. It can also re-ask the databases about anything you scanned and tell you where your figures differ from theirs. It only reports - nothing is changed.
Backup
Your data lives in this browser only. If you clear site data or switch phones it is gone, so export a copy now and then.
